Custom LiDAR Solutions for Unique Challenges
At HyPoint Solutions, we recognize that not every project fits into a standard product offering. Our team works with agencies, engineering firms, and industry partners to develop customized LiDAR-based solutions for unique monitoring, measurement, and detection applications.
From initial feasibility evaluations and sensor selection to system integration, field testing, and data analysis, we help turn complex challenges into practical, real-world solutions.
Featured Project
Vessel Monitoring & Clearance Study
HyPoint deployed a customized, multi-sensor LiDAR system on the Thomas Johnson Bridge to support a vessel monitoring and navigation channel study.
Multiple LiDAR sensors were installed along the bridge to capture three-dimensional measurements of vessels passing beneath the structure. The system was designed to measure vessel mast heights and evaluate the distance between the highest point of each vessel and the bridge structure, providing valuable information for bridge clearance analysis and waterway planning.
In addition to vertical clearance measurements, the system collects vessel speed, estimated width, and movement information to help evaluate traffic patterns and vessel positioning within the navigation channel.
System Capabilities
Vessel Mast Height Measurement
Measures the highest point of passing vessels using LiDAR technology.
Bridge Clearance Analysis
Calculates the distance between the vessel's highest point and the bridge structure.
Multi-Sensor LiDAR Integration
Combines measurements from multiple sensors to monitor vessels passing beneath the bridge.
Vessel Speed & Dimensions
Captures vessel speed and estimated width to support traffic analysis.
Channel Usage Study
Tracks vessel movement and positioning to better understand navigation patterns.
Integrated Imaging
Captures images of passing vessels to provide visual context for measurement records.
Automated Data Logging
Records vessel measurements, timestamps, and associated images in the HyPoint web portal.
Remote Data Access
Allows project teams to review vessel events, measurements, and supporting imagery through a centralized web interface.
